Chenie Prudhomme

Ecology Officer

Chenie grew up with naturalist parents on 70 acres of prairie and woodland restoration in rural Minnesota in the U.S. She first studied Biology there in 2010, and in 2022 studied a Masters in Applied Ecology at the University of Gloucestershire.

Between degrees, she worked for 6 years as a fisheries observer onboard commercial fishing boats in the US North Atlantic, gathering data to help monitor fish stocks. This led to work on electronic monitoring of the same fishing boats, and from there to work as a deckhand onboard motor and sailing yachts.

She was inspired by the Knepp Estate to come to the UK to study and work in conservation.

As our Ecology Officer, Chenie oversees the biodiversity surveys on site, coordinates experts and volunteers, manages datasets and mapping, liaises with science and industry partners, and helps manage student research on site.
